Surprising, Unexpected Benefits of Wall Wraps

By | Building Graphics, Commercial Property Owner, Government, HealthCare, Hospitality, Marketing Agency, Property or Facilities Maintenance, retail, Wall Wraps | No Comments

Wall wraps have been steadily improving throughout their multiple generations, but modern developments have made the latest generation more cutting-edge than you ever imagined. Check out these surprising wall wrap benefits that were never possible… until now.

But First, What’s a Wall Wrap?

Traditionally, a graphical wall decal, or “wall wrap,” has been used as an easily customizable solution to cover up unsightly, unattractive, or just plain ugly walls. These days, the high-tech advancements of wall wraps offer an expanded spectrum of options that cover up far more than just interior walls.

Modern wall wraps supply a wide range of possibility, including indoor/ outdoor resurfacing solutions; massive, eye-catching, full-color indoor/ outdoor graphics; and more.

Did you happen to see the brilliant marketing wall wraps used during Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta? Full-scale graphical marketing options like that simply weren’t possible a few years ago.

Experiencing the Unexpected Advantages of Wall Wraps

Even if you’re familiar with the latest advancements in custom wall wraps and these innovative solutions have been a part of your strategy for a while, you may still be unaware of the many unexpected benefits that wall wraps can offer.

Here are some of the more surprising ways that wall wraps can help the innovative companies that use them:

  • Expand Employee Engagement

In a recent study conducted by Capital One, 86% of millennials reported that “companies cannot encourage innovation unless their workplace and environment is innovative.” This study also revealed that Millennials place a high importance on artwork and creative imagery throughout the workplace, rating these specific aesthetics second only to natural light as their preferred space design element.

Studies like these have gained a lot of attention when it comes to increasing creativity and engagement in the workplace, and the lately increased options that full wall decals offer provide an obvious answer to solve the widespread problem of employee disengagement.

  • Increase Customer Interaction

Customer interaction is going to look different depending on your business and industry. A worldwide clothing retail business will require different types of interaction than a government agency. Luckily, in this area, wall wraps have an almost infinite number of possibilities.

The professionals at NGS can combine texture with customized designs and images to ensure you get the optimal levels of professionalism, interaction, and eye-catching brilliance at all your locations, so you can keep your customers excited and interested in your company and brand for years to come.

  • Set the Scene

A study conducted by the University of Texas concluded that workspaces that were gray, beige, and white induced sadness and depression in workers. Fortunately, custom wall wraps give you the ability to create the perfect setting in all situations, so you can keep your employees happy and focused on growing your company.

Here are three additional ways to set the scene:

  • Create a calming and soothing environment in an emergency room lobby or a dentist’s office with images from nature in soothing shades of blue and green.
  • Increase school spirit during playoff season by wrapping not only the gymnasium but the campus buildings and hallways as well.
  • Impress clients and partners with specialty wall wrap options for your meeting rooms using 3M DI-NOC whiteboard film and corporate branding packages.

Ensure You Benefit from Your Custom Wall Wraps

With all these benefits, plus the unexpected environmental advantages of 3M DI-NOC architectural film, you may find many situations in which wall wraps would be an excellent option for your purposes.

However, when choosing and installing your wraps, you’ll want to ensure you get all the benefits you deserve. To do this, make sure you hire a truly professional installation team that can boast a long record of success.

The professionals at NGS have a proven history of success installing wall wraps for some of the largest businesses across the country. Our experts have all the knowledge and experience you need to make your project a success – and we offer the best products on the market to help you transform absolutely any surface at your location.

Commercial Window Film – What It Is and What It Isn’t

By | Commercial Property Owner, News | No Comments

We admit it: the world of commercial window film can be extremely confusing. If you’ve been searching through the Internet trying to come up with a definition for the term commercial window film, you’re probably pretty overwhelmed with the options available.

If you’re ready for some clear and simple explanations, NGS Films and Graphics has got you covered. Here’s your guide to what commercial window film is (and isn’t).

Commercial Window Film 101

In general, commercial window film refers to any type of film that you stick on the windows at your business. In comparison, residential window film refers to the film that you stick on the windows at your home. (We told you we’d make this easy!)

Residential film has a much more limited variety and is typically less technically advanced, which is why some people choose to install commercial window film in their homes.

There are three main types of commercial window film:

1. Security Film

Security window film protects your establishment from break-ins and burglaries by providing a strengthening barrier between would-be thieves and your merchandise.

Security film options include:

  • Off-the-Shelf Film

This is the window film that is readily in stock and available for immediate installation from most resellers. Note that off-the-shelf films vary in quality; some are better than others.

  • Proven Solutions

Proven, proprietary solutions have been specifically created by a security film expert to provide guaranteed, government-rated protection. TRI-SHIELD is one such solution, because it offers a triple-layered defense system that meets ASTM F1233 Level 1.0 anti-intrusion tests to resist attacks from low-powered weapons such as rocks, bricks, and hammers.

Security film is NOT a “bulletproof” solution. Security window film is attached to your existing windows, whereas Invisicade is the next step up: an invisible mounting system for clear, impact-resistant polycarbonate windows. Once mounted, polycarbonate windows provide passive protection from bombs, chemical explosions, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other dangers.

2. Graphics and Signage

Window film graphics and signage provide a critical branding and marketing opportunity for your business. Since each option provides its own advantages, it is important to know the difference between the two.

  • Graphics

Window film graphics conveniently display your brand to the public as they pass by, which helps make your location more memorable. Typically, graphics rely on custom designs and colors that are printed to fit your windows.

  • Signage

Window film also works as signage. Just like your other outdoor signs, window film signage is designed to maximize public attention and identification, which can help increase traffic to your location. Window film signage, however, is different than traditional signage – but NGS has got you covered there too, if you need it!

Film graphics and signage are NOT interior graphics. Interior graphics are images applied to any indoor surface, including your walls, ceilings, floors, and fixtures. Window film graphics and signage are designed to target the people outside your building, whereas interior graphics are designed for the folks who’ve already made it inside.

3. Energy-Efficient Film

Energy-efficient window film provides a wide range of energy-saving options that can help your building retain or block heat to reduce heating and cooling costs. It can also help you cut down on your lighting costs.

There are three main categories of window film:

  • Thermal Film / Low E

Thermal window film, also known as “Low E” film, focuses on heat retention. It’s designed to reduce your heating costs by providing a layer of insulation to all your windows, so you can keep the comfortable warm air in and harsh winter cold out.

  • Solar Film

Solar window film is designed to help you block the unwanted effects of the sun. This includes minimizing heat gain and glare, as well as protecting your merchandise or interior decorations from fading, cracking, and peeling. Solar film can block heat-causing infrared rays by up to 97% and UV rays by 99%.

  • Daylight Redirection Film

Daylight redirection film takes advantage of micro-prisms that are manufactured directly into the film to redirect the sunlight that comes through your windows. By redirecting the light toward your ceiling and further into your space, you can reduce your lighting costs and maximize your energy efficiency.

Solar film is NOT always tinted or mirrored. In fact, solar film comes in a variety of options, including crystal clear. When choosing your solar film, it’s a good idea to sample the many options you have available, so you can make sure you maintain your building’s aesthetic.

There’s a Lot More Than Meets the Eye with Commercial Window Film

As you can see, you have a lot of options when it comes to commercial window film, but we haven’t even made it past the tip of the iceberg on what there is to know. (After all, there’s also all those different brands we need to talk about…)

Honestly, the best way to understand the many, many options available to you is to contact a consultant who can guide you through your choices to help you arrive at the perfect solution.

As the #1 Commercial Window Film Company in the U.S., NGS Films and Graphics has the in-depth knowledge you need to choose your perfect solution from today’s best-of-breed, market-leading film vendors. If you’re looking for the best window film for your project, NGS has got you covered.

Corporate Asset Management

2 Smart Ways to Turn Your Liabilities into Assets

It’s time we talked about your corporate assets. Often, when people mention this term, they’re only speaking about your company’s money – but your building and fixtures are an investment too. When you set plans in place to manage your physical assets, you’ll be able to extend their lifecycle and maximize your returns.

This process is an integral part of corporate asset management, but many companies overlook the range of strategies they can use to simplify the process. Keep reading to learn more.

A Brief Introduction to Corporate Asset Management

“Corporate asset management” sounds like a big deal, but it’s actually pure common sense. This process helps you maximize the useful lifespan of your business assets by planning remodels and upgrades for your space that keep your goods safe, your store clean and enticing, and your brand messaging positive. Properly done, corporate asset management can lower depreciation to increase your asset values over time.

Depreciation 101

Usually your accountant will handle your depreciation, so let’s stop for a quick refresher on how this process works for your fixed assets, which are the physical investments that last your company a year or more.

The details of fixed asset management are complex, but, in general, you must decrease the value of your fixed assets such as buildings, land, and equipment over the course of their usable life, until they’ve reached their salvage value, which is the amount you can scrap it for. Store fixtures often maintain salvage value, but run-of-the-mill architectural features simply become worthless junk over time, due to weathering or wear and tear.

Luckily, there’s a way to rescue junk architecture and extend the lifespan of your fixtures while retaining their salvage value. This turns depreciation into appreciation because the less you have to buy, the more you save. One way you can manage your investments and save money is to use glass and architectural film that protect and improve your assets.

How to Protect Your Building, Retail Space, Hotel, Hospital, or Office

Architectural film and glass film both extend the life of your assets to improve your long-term ROI, but they’re vastly different products.

  • Quality architectural film comes in a virtually unlimited palette of patterns and colors, many of which look remarkably like natural materials such as stone, wood, leather, and metal. Modern architectural film is carefully engineered to stick to any surface quickly and easily, and it’s guaranteed to resist wear and tear such as weather and heavy commercial use for many years.

Looking for sustainable design products that improve the appearance of your interiors and exteriors? Architectural wrap is eco-friendly because it reduces your landfill impact. Instead of throwing out old or unsightly architectural features, popular wrap brands such as 3M DI-NOC and Belbien can adhere to any surface with any shape or texture. Want to upgrade your exterior and interior trim, accent walls, fitting room doors, cash wraps, racks, or anything else in your store or on your building? NGS Films and Graphics has got you covered.

In addition, architectural wrap won’t interrupt business for properties with 24-hour operations such as hotels, airports, or hospitals. No other product category will allow you to refresh the look of your lobby, elevator, doors, or rooms without having to demo and shut down the space. Projects with LEED goals can also benefit from these products as LEED points may apply. See the before and after pictures to see how realistic architectural wrap looks. (link to before and after)

  • Commercial glass film provides protection for your inventory by blocking 99% of UV light rays and up to 97% of infrared rays. In the past, glass film merely blocked UV light, but advancements in technology by leading companies can now help your company protect from color fading; reduce nearly half of your in-building heat gain (from infrared); and prevent damage to your fabric, paint, and plastic inventory.

Like architectural film, glass film is built to last with warranties of more than a decade. It is worthy to note that today’s solar films don’t have to be tinted. Modern films offer high-heat rejection capabilities with virtually clear appearances, and some new Low E technology films will improve single-pane glass insulation to almost dual-pane capabilities – and dual-pane to nearly triple-pane performance!

In addition to protecting your goods and interior features from wear and tear, recent advances in glass film can help you protect your store from thieves; reduce uncomfortable heat and glare; and decrease your heating, cooling, and lighting costs.  One recent innovation includes 3M Daylight Redirecting Film, an entirely new cost-saving invention that eliminates glare while harvesting daylight, making your environments are more productive and inviting. See 3M Daylight Redirecting Film in action to get an idea of how much your company could save on lighting.

  • Metal & Glass Anti-Graffiti Coatings allow property owners to turn depreciation into appreciation by renewing metal surfaces without having to experience a costly replacement. These films are a perfect fit for aging elevators, changing rooms, and bathrooms that have been etched, dented, or damaged because the new coatings come in a variety of metal and mirror finishes that essentially allow an owner to install a protective surface directly over the damaged substrate. This renews and protects the surface and can save thousands of dollars.

  • Signage and Branding Graphics are being leveraged in unprecedented ways with new materials, print technologies, and cool new design concepts to affordably overhaul the way a space looks and feels. A simple wayfinding graphic isn’t only beautiful and functional, but it can also enhance safety.

Many studies point to the fact that the use of art, color, and dimensional design can enhance mood and therefore productivity, as well as overall occupant experience, and a rising trend shows that savvy companies are beginning to incorporate interior signage and graphics more often. See how One national insurance company transformed their new mega center space with graphics instead of resorting to a costly remodel.

5 Practical Tips for Commercial Building Security

By | Commercial Property Owner, General contractor, Government, Hospitality, Property or Facilities Maintenance, safety & security Films | 3 Comments

If you’ve looked into commercial building security on the Internet, you’ve probably noticed that most of the advice out there assumes your building is a high target area for terrorists. Their advice is a bit… scary.

We’re not here to worry you; we’re here to help. Check out this list for practical, real-world tips that show you how to mitigate common security risks in your commercial building.

  1. Stroll Around Your Neighborhood

Your first step is to put on your sneakers and walk through your neighborhood to get a clear picture of your current local security standing. As you’re walking, take notes on creepy dark alleys, empty lots, abandoned buildings, or obscured streetlamps. Also keep an eye out for nearby federal buildings that could become terrorist targets.

Expert tip: As you’re looking over your area, take a glance at your neighbors’ security measures. If they all have bars or security gates, these deterrents won’t stand out if you use them. If their buildings have streamlined, invisible security measures, you’ll want to follow suit.

  1. Look Over Your “Standoff Perimeter”

The area between your building and nearby vehicles, the standoff perimeter, can be small, especially along streets in urban areas. Depending on nearby traffic lights and parking situations, cars could jump the curb and smash into your building.

Expert tip: High impact solutions such as extra-thick polycarbonate can create a seamless barrier that helps protect your building from accident-prone cars outside, but it may be expensive to install. A more affordable solution could be to slow traffic with bollards, heavy planters, or bolted-down benches on the sidewalk out front.

  1. Investigate Your Building Envelope

The exterior of your building, called the envelope, is your most important security protection point. Simply put: if thieves or flying debris can’t breach your building envelope, your building’s occupants and their possessions will stay secure. Fortify your glazing, your façade, and your HVAC vent systems to create a strong barrier.

Expert tip: The envelope of your building defines your building’s aesthetic and it also psychologically provides cues that improve tenant and guest comfort. It’s hard to have a sleek, modern, reassuring building if you have to bolt ugly security panels onto the exterior. Invisible security barriers, such as theft-resistant, field-proven TRI-SHIELD security window film or impact- and theft-resistant Invisicade, help your building stay appealing, attractive, and secure.

  1. Assess Your Management and Operations

Your building management procedures will determine your tenants’ safety in case of an emergency. Make sure evacuation routes are clear and well-marked with bright signage, utilize daylighting in key areas to provide light during power loss, and install blast-resistant glazing or films that limit airborne glass shards from hurricanes or tornado impact.

Expert tip: Security solutions can sometimes get in the way during an emergency situation. Invisibly installed impact barriers or security films offer a clear line of sight for surveillance systems, and they can minimize or prevent glass shatter entirely.

  1. Keep Your Budget in Mind

As you consider your security solutions, remember that physical improvements last a long time and that you don’t always need the most expensive solution. Today’s best security film and impact barrier installers offer long-term warranties of a decade or more for many of their products, but your ROI doesn’t have to stop there. Window films can also reduce your long-term energy costs and cut down on your graffiti-cleaning costs.

Expert tip: Plan for reduced security maintenance charges in the long run. If you need to replace a damaged security feature, it shouldn’t cut into your bottom line too deeply. The right security solutions will not only prevent crimes, they’ll also save you from emergency overnight glass-repair fees and security guard payments during repair time.

It’s Time to Safeguard Your Investment

Commercial building security doesn’t have any one-size-fits-all solutions. Determine your specific needs by evaluating your surroundings, assessing your likelihood of experiencing various environmental and societal risks, and then calculating the costs to mitigate each risk in a variety of ways. Your building investment is worth the work.

4 Ways to Increase Brand Awareness and Visibility – Benefits of Commercial Signage

By | Commercial Property Owner, Government, HealthCare, Hospitality, Marketing Agency, Property or Facilities Maintenance, Signs | No Comments

Now announcing NGS commercial signage and interior branding projects!

Exterior and interior commercial signage not only increases your brand awareness and your overall visibility, it also builds brand equity and consumer confidence. In short: signs are really important. That’s why NGS Films and Graphics now offers full-service project management for stress-free signage and one-stop interior branding packages.

Build your brand with these four tips:

  1. Fight for Your Perfect Design

The design of your signs is extremely important. Aside from delivering brand awareness with a logo, your store’s signage also delivers subtle psychological cues to shoppers about your store’s quality, as a recent study found. Not only do your colors and lettering matter in your design, placement matters too.

Unfortunately, cities and landlords often limit key elements such as colors, lettering, and placement, so signage drawings have to be repeatedly reworked before the design is accepted. That’s a waste of time – and the process often dilutes your brand messaging.

Get your bid drawings right the first time so you can get your perfect design. NGS Films and Graphics knows the city code inside and out, and will also work as your on-site brand defender, performing an On-Site Analysis that establishes precedent against troublesome landlords who block your ideal sign project. It’s all included in our full-service, turnkey signage offering with optional interior branding packages.

  1. Make Sure Your Signs Are Visible

Design means nothing if consumers can’t find your store. A 2012 FedEx Office study determined that 75% of consumers have entered a store or referred a friend because of a sign that stood out, and another recent study found that nearly 50% of consumers will drive right by a business without finding it due to insufficient signage. Clearly, eye-catching signage makes a difference.

With NGS, you have the freedom to order a wide range of high-quality signs, including:

  • Blade signs
  • Channel and illuminated signs
  • Interior branding signage
  • Specialty signs in bronze, aluminum, and other attractive metals
  • …and more

Plus, you’ll get 3D environment modeling, which ensures maximum visibility for illuminated signs using the ideal height and stroke width for your project and location. Again, NGS is happy to take care of all those permits, city codes, and landlord approvals for you.

  1. Ensure Your Signs Are High Quality

A Sign Research Foundation study reports that 33% of shoppers have been drawn into an unfamiliar store based on sign quality, and other studies have found that, out of 100,000 surveyed North American shoppers, 34% associated sign quality with store and product quality.

Luckily, NGS makes it easy for you to ensure high quality signs, because they oversee all aspects of your signage design, manufacturing, installation, and inspections with turnkey signage service all the way from concept to final inspection. Whether you need building signage, exterior signage, glass signage, or creative interior signage, NGS will take care of it.

  1. Deliver Branding Indoors Too

The survey of 100,000 North American shoppers also found that nearly 86% of shoppers agreed that signage can convey the personality and branding of a business, which explains why modern companies are choosing interior branding. But interior branding isn’t just for retail.

A recent study from office-design expert, Haworth, suggests that expressive design elements in your space can increase employee productivity by 22%, which explains why NGS was hired to take care of interior branding throughout State Farm’s new 2.2-million-square-foot mega campus (the largest corporate office project in metro Atlanta’s history).

With full-service interior branding packages from NGS, your retail store, office location, or other commercial space will benefit from our high-quality one-stop-shop that takes care of all the details for you, including the design, production, and installation of gorgeous interior branding graphics, film, and signage so you can deliver a seamless experience throughout your locations and across the nation.

Set Up Your Commercial Signage and Interior Branding Project

Many sign projects stall out because businesses are surprised to discover that the process takes an overwhelming amount of time and effort, including code checks, permits, landlord approvals, and other frustrating steps. Many interior branding project stall because it takes a lot of vendor coordination.

Let NGS take care of everything for you, so you’ll know that your sign and interior branding will be done correctly, on time, every time. Contact Angie Huff, the NGS sign and branding expert, for more information.

DINOC & Belbien: The “eco” Architectural Solution

DINOC & Belbien: The “eco” Architectural Solution

It’s tempting to tear down and start over, but budget and operations considerations can put a damper on demo. With LEED considerations thrown in the mix, improving the appearance of spaces large and small demand a better alternative. Enter DINOC and Belbien architectural laminate—an excellent “eco” alternative.

Architectural laminates are a textured, hefty 8 millimeters thick vinyl and come in more than 400 style variations from wood grain, fabric, and metallic to stucco, stone, and others. Thanks to their high-tech adhesion and flexibility, transforming any smooth surface is possible, even areas with complex curves.

NGS has been using this dynamic, indoor/outdoor material for several years now with great success. One of our largest projects involved refreshing ten thousand square feet within the Dallas Convention Center.

Washington DC jeweler, IGorman, also needed a fresh take on its aging facade. The company selected a wood grain that matched the original. The end results? Both the finish and the final cost were a sight to behold. Said NGS Managing Partner, James Beale, “The store was completely overhauled with a stunning new & modern look for a fraction of the cost of replacing the original facade substrate.”

NGS transforms clear glass into high-def LCD screens

By | Architect or Engineer, Commercial Property Owner, Customers, ESCO, Government, HealthCare, Hospitality, Marketing Agency, News, Property or Facilities Maintenance, Solutions | No Comments

It only looks like magic: NGS transforms clear glass into high-def LCD screens.

With the click of a button — or a tap on your iPhone  — you can change a clear pane of glass into a frosted, privacy barrier. Even more impressive? Turning that clear pane of glass into an LCD screen to show a high definition video. Your audience will be amazed. And why wouldn’t they be? It’s the stuff of the future yet it’s available today thanks to National Glazing Solutions, a true innovation leader in the film and glazing industry.

This next-generation electrochromic film, can be retrofitted on existing glass and is 100% compatible with smart home automation systems. Additionally, it blocks up to 87% of Infrared and up to 98% of  UV rays. Of course you know what that means: heating and cooling bills are reduced. According to the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a building could save up to a whopping 8% of its energy if electrochromic film is used on its windows. Aiding in the cost-savings is the tiny amounts of electricity used to switch windows on and off. For example, 100 windows use approximately the same amount as one incandescent bulb. That’s a very big savings.

So just how does our electrochromic film work? A quick talk with one of our engineers will tell you electrochromic film is like building a sandwich of sorts. It’s constructed like this: On the inside surface — which points into the building — is a glaze of five super thin layers of chemicals. In the middle is a separator, which has two electrodes on each side. On top of those are electrical contacts. When a tiny charge is applied, ions travel from the separator to outer electrodes and reflect light to create the frosted appearance.

Now, if you want to know how we transform clear glass into a video display, well, that will take a lot longer than we have here. But still, it’s really cool, right?

Office space design trends that keep worker bees buzzing

Office space design trends that keep worker bees buzzing

The right office environment matters more than ever as Millennials stream into the workforce.  Great spaces attract the best employees and keep them happy and productive.

Window films & NGS printed graphics are a cost-effective tool in providing the warm fuzzies today’s employees need to bring cold, hard cash to the bottom line.  See how window films can keep you current with these five trends.

  1. Open up

Open spaces, at work and at home, have been a trend for so long that they have really become the standard. Let in as much natural light as possible into your open spaces and consider removing any walls that block it. You can “control” the light by choosing different window films that let in more or less light depending on what you need where.

  1. Make yourself at home

Offices are starting to feel more like you’re in someone’s house. The drab rows of desks and columns of metal filing cabinets are slowly fading from view. To make your space feel more like a house, add family-style furniture like long farm tables with benches.  Keep the flow flexible, so tables and chairs can be moved around as needed.

  1. Get in touch with your feelings

(The tactile kind.) Adding texture adds warmth, dimension and personality, especially in open spaces with a homey atmosphere. Get ideas for mixing and matching textures from interior design blogs and magazines. Take a stroll over to the NGS gallery to see the hundreds of different projects utilizing custom and off the shelf decorative & printed films.

  1. Turn it inside out… and outside in

The outside is coming into the office through open spaces and natural light. But the trend doesn’t stop there. Natural stones and woods are appearing on floors, counter tops and walls. Subtle floral patterns are growing in upholstery and wallpaper. If flowers aren’t your thing, don’t worry. Modern approaches suggest woodsy surroundings without overpowering the flower-phobic. Products like 3M’s DINOC and Belbien can be installed on most any smooth surface to emulate the look of stone or, metal or wood.

  1. Don’t keep up with the Jones’s

Keeping up with office space design trends keeps you looking fresh and welcoming to both your employees and your important visitors. But don’t forget that your space should always reflect your brand, even as tastes change. With today’s specialty graphics, brand identify elements printed on film can be incorporated liberally—and tastefully—into a less “corporate” environment.

Why No Building Should Be Without Sunscreen

Why No Building Should Be Without Sunscreen

If you’re unwittingly letting your building fry like a lobster, that’s your business. Slathering it up with sun protection is ours. Here’s why it matters. According to the International Window Film Association (IWFA), window film can stop more than 80% of the solar energy coming through windows, with up to a 30% reduction in cooling costs and some films up to 30% reduction in heat loss in the winter.. The IWFA notes that window film can even save seven times each dollar spent on replacement windows.

More than 250 window films have even been certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) for energy efficiency. (“Fenestration” means an opening in a building—basically, windows, doors and skylights). The NFRC is the same independent, nonprofit organization that rates glass windows. Ratings take into account factors including energy absorption, solar heat gain, air leakage and resistance to condensation.

As if energy savings weren’t a good enough reason for solar-savvy window film, this “sunscreen” also means:

  • UV protection for the people inside
  • Fewer hot spots
  • Less glare
  • Reduced fading of furniture, carpeting and artworks

According to James Beale, managing partner and vice president of sales for NGS, “Solar considerations have emerged as a major factor for our clients in weighing their window film options. Energy costs and ways to mitigate them should really be on every client’s window solution check list.”

Beale also pointed out that many clients have been taking their solar solutions to the next level with specialty solar-control window films in a variety of categories. These include traditional reflective, ceramic ultra-blocking, and spectrally select for preserving the highest degree of natural daylight.

NGS installs 3M security film for an international developer’s marquis property in Atlanta

So who’s the developer, and what’s the property? We’d tell you, but we’d have to kill you. As a leader in the commercial window film industry, NGS takes security seriously, and we stand behind the abilities of 3M security film.

According to the latest crime reporting available from the FBI, more than two million burglaries took place in homes and offices in 2009, costing nearly five billion dollars in lost property. Sixty percent of the burglaries in 2009 involved forcible entry. Between the year 2000 and 2009, burglaries increased more than seven percent.

According to James Beale, managing partner and vice president of sales for NGS, “Smash-and-grabs are of increasing concern among our clients across the U.S., and not just in major cities. We’re working with businesses of every size on solutions.”

The recently completed Atlanta security installation is 22,000 square feet, and the scopes include a custom integration of 3M SH14 interior security film and 3M IPA/ Impact Protection Adhesive wet glaze attachment, plus 3M 7mil exterior security film for force entry protection. Strong, micro-layered safety and security window films from 3M are designed to hold glass together in the event of a break, while allowing natural light to pass through and maintaining the appearance of an office. An added bonus is energy conservation and lower energy bills.

“Security considerations should really be a component of any commercial window film solution,” Beale said. “It’s like the insurance you’d get for your car and your home as a matter of course. A little forethought and a small investment in window ‘insurance’ can save untold expenses should there be a break-in.”

NGS is currenlty working with property managers and retailer around the US to install proven forced entry protection systems like TRI-SHIELD.
